R.I.P. Jani Lane

I had The Excellent 80's on cruise control last week as I do from time to time, so this is the first time I've gotten to address the untimely passing of Warrant lead singer Jani Lane who was 47 at the time of his death Thursday.

Warrant was never one of my favorite hair metal bands, but they did have their moments especially the rock ballad "Heaven," which is hopefully where Lane has ended up. The band from Hollywood came onto the scene kind of late in the game in 1989, and rocked on into the early 90's when grunge and rap put an end to the hair metal era pretty much.

Here is the aforementioned ballad that went all the way to #2 on the Billboard charts back in 1989. It's "Heaven"...

So, here is my favorite Warrant video. From 1990, it's a typically silly hair metal band video, and there's no guessing as to the meaning of the song. Featuring the late Jani Lane on vocals along with the hot blond model Bobbie Brown shakin' it for the band and for all of us teenage boys during that time, here is "Cherry Pie"...
