Outrageous!

Yes, I'm a little late on this Grammy's post since the Grammy's were a couple of weeks ago.  Anyway, from 1985, with Lionel Richie as host, here are three awards that Prince took home that night.  There is much to love about this clip.  The first two awards - "Favorite Black Single" and "Favorite Black Album" seem to indicate this should have been 1955 instead of 1985.  The Beach Boys completely butchered the reading of the nominations somehow, and I just love the big bodyguard Prince has.  Just classic Prince.  I wish the big  guy had strolled down the runway with Prince at the Grammy's on Sunday night when Prince presented...

And, as an added bonus today, don't forget about the much anticipated Pepsi commercial that accompanied the hit song. After all of the controversy regarding the "Like a Prayer" video, Pepsi quickly yanked the commercial after two airings, and attempted to distance themselves from Madonna for fear of boycotting by churches and religious organizations around the country. The irony is that they thought Madonna represented "the choice of a new generation," which she may or may not have at that time. Ultimately though Pepsi decided it was safer to stay with the choice of an old generation instead of pushing the envelope any. Ahh, good times in 1989!

I think one of the great questions from this weekend's movie flashback is not "Who's That Girl?" but instead is who's Griffin Dunne? His rise and fall from fame was quite rapid with this disaster of a movie... so I hear anyway, because I've never actually seen it.

OK, class. Once upon a time there was s movie called "Desperately Seeking Susan," which was a critical failure, but really not THAT bad of a movie. Anyway, it starred Rosanna Arquette, Aiden Quinn, and the one and only Madonna. Here is the hit single, which was a #1 dance hit, she included on its' soundtrack and probably my favorite Madonna song. I just like to get up and dance when it comes on.

I don't think I'm going out on a limb, when I say that today's song was featured in the best wrestling movie of the 80's. You know what I'm talking about, don't you! You immediately thought, "he's talking about "Vision Quest". You know it. It's Madonna at her ballad best in this movie that starred Matthew Modine and his older love interest, Linda Fiorentino. Madonna was at her 80's looking best in this video and I still will listen to this song anytime it comes on the radio today.
