Today's hit from the band Styx occurred during the height of their popularity and close to the break up of the band over the always amusing "creative differences." This single cracked the top 10 off of their "Kilroy Was Here" album, and remains one of my favorite Styx singles. Here they are with the live version of "Don't Let It End"...

Domo Arigato, Excellent 80's Viewers
From 1983 we bring you the phrase that swept through my 6th grade school class - "I'm Kilroy! Kilroy! Kilroy!" It's the band Styx with the "futuristic" (LOL) video that is laughably out of date for a popular song from 1983 that hit #3 on the U.S. Billboard charts called "Mr. Roboto"...

Tonight's the Night We'll Make History
Dressed like a member of a barbershop quartet, Dennis DeYoung sings lead on maybe my favorite Styx song of all time. The slow build up leading to the up tempo portion of the song at about the 1:15 mark is my favorite part of the song. Plus, it's just a bonus to get to see Tommy Shaw's hideous 80's hair and his green jump suit at about that point in the video as well. I actually had this vinyl album back in the day too. Here is the band Styx with "The Best of Times"...

Sittin' On This Bar Stool, Talkin' Like a Damn Foole
Unbelievably, this is the first song / video by the group Styx in The Excellent 80's. Granted there aren't a ton of Styx videos from the 80's, but there are plenty that they should have been in here before now as this blog approaches its 4th birthday later this month. One of my first albums was a present to me when I was about ten, and it was the Styx "Paradise Theater" triple platinum album that was the band's only #1 album in the U.S. Today's song and video is from that album and features Tommy Shaw on lead vocals instead of Dennis DeYoung. Here are the boys trying to do funny (unsuccessfully of course) in the video for "Too Much Time on My Hands"...
