Sweet Potato Pie and I Shut My Mouth

As you know from time to time I dip into the 80's country sector. Music videos weren't as common in the early to mid 80's as they were for pop performers, but towards the end of the decade country musicians started putting together some videos especially with the incarnation of Country Music Television in 1983 and particularly as its viewership spread. In 1989, Alabama, which dominated the 80's, had four country number ones from its album "Southern Star." Here is one such song and video. It's the black and white to color video of the song about the poor southern man's struggle during The Great Depression. Here is Alabama with "Song of the South"...

I'll Be Over the Edge in No TIme at All

We've had the great country band Alabama in here before back in 2008 with their first huge hit called "Mountain Music." So, here's another 80's hit from the bearded one and his band Alabama. Seriously, this country band had to be one of the hairiest in the 80's. They could have shaved those beards and transformed to hair metal with no problem. Even though this is not a country music video blog (mainly because country music videos didn't catch on until later), occasionally I'll hear a country song from the 80's that I liked, so here are a couple that I remember being huge hits...
