Is This a Cool World or What?

It's the end of 2009... where did it go!? Well, The Excellent 80's is leaving 2009 with a parting shot to the 1982 MTV New Year's Rockin' Eve... introduced by the late, great JJ Jackson, here is actress/singer Karla DeVito who sang backup for Meat Loaf at one time and who later married and had children with actor Robby Benson... with a song from her debut album by the same name, here is "Is This a Cool World or What?"...

I Thumbed My Way From L.A. Back to Knoxville

Like I do from time to time, I bust you off a little country to keep you honest amongst all the hair bands, rap stars, pop icons, and new wave English bands that appear frequently in here... today's artist is making his first appearance in the Excellent 80's and was a country music superstar... at one time Ronnie Milsap had a string of 11 #1 hits and, overall, has hit the top of the country charts 40 times... he was also a popular crossover artist back in the early 80's... today's song reached #1 on the country charts, but also cracked the top 25 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 back in 1981... a performance from the Grand Ole Opery, here is the legendary Ronnie Milsap with "Smokey Mountain Rain"...
