80's Movie Weekend

With the sad news that Corey Haim passed away at the age of 38, this weekend's 80's movie flashback takes us back to a young, nerdy Corey Haim before he became a teen idol... although The Lost Boys will always remain my favorite Corey Haim movie, anybody that has ever seen today's feature doesn't forget the lovable undersized, bug-collecting, underdog by the name of Lucas...

also featuring Charlie Sheen, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Winona Ryder, and Jeremy Piven, here is Corey's major motion picture breakthrough - "Lucas"... the trailer...

you can watch the whole movie on youtube should you be inclined to... here is the first 10 minutes of "Lucas"...

You're the Kind of Person

Believes in making out once, love 'em and leave 'em fast... sexuality just oozes from this song and the video was one of the first from an African-American artist to receive regular airplay on MTV... this is my first memory of the little Purple one... it's "Little Red Corvette"... baby, you much too fast...

He's the One They Call Dr. Feelgood

This must have been one hot video... literally... all this fire everywhere - the band must have lost a lot of weight, like playing in sauna or something... it's the Crue again with one of their last hits in the 80's - this one coming at the end of the summer of 1989... it's the band's highest ranking single to date - "Dr. Feelgood"...

When I'm With You Baby, I Go Out of My Head

Today's video is one of Depeche Mode's more danceable hits they came out with in the early 80's... love the fruity cocktails the band is enjoying in this video - screw the liquor and beer! Give me a Pina Colada! From 1981, here is the band's first U.S. single - "Just Can't Get Enough"...

The Sky Was All Purple

There were people running everywhere! Tried to run from my destruction, you know I didn't even care... I still remember how big this hit was when it came out in 1982... and then again as 1999 approached and passed us... and the world didn't end, and Prince got older and had hip replacement surgery and still continued to belt out this classic... our "Prince March" rolls on with "1999"...

Hey Baby, I'm Talking to You!

Was never a big fan of theirs in the late 70's, but when they hit it big again in the 80's, I was on board, especially if Nancy Wilson kept jumping around in those tight leather pants and continued to show some nice cleavage... unfortunately for the Wilson sisters, the best hair in this video belongs to the bass player in the pink jacket... you take a look at that dude, and tell me I'm lying... here are the sexy Wilson sisters again in The Excellent 80's with "Never"...

What's A Matter With Your Life?

That's the question the Purple One asked us back in the summer of 1985 when this song was released... the pitfalls of celebrity are described in this Prince hit that featured Sheila E. on Drums, and Wendy & Lisa provide backing vocals... it's a newer version of Prince and "Pop Life"...

Doing his best Bogey/Indy Jones impersonation, Peter Cetera does some fine acting in this black and white classic video... probably one of my top 3 Chicago songs of all time, here they are with "Along Comes a Woman"...
