Oh, I've Got a Live One Here

As the 80's was coming to an end, Prince had his 4th number one hit when in the summer of 1989, the blockbuster movie "Batman" was released starring Michael Keaton as the Bat, Kim Basinger as Vicki Vale, and Jack Nicholson as The Joker. It also featured a soundtrack produced by Prince and featured this hit that propelled him on to some big hits in the 90's as well... Our "Prince March" ends today with "Batdance"...

No One Could Look as Good as You

Today's video became one of the first videos banned by MTV, but viewing it today, it's just plain silly to see why... you have midgets molesting a "female", a samurai warrior, a Tarzan like character, a gunslinger, and a Napoleon type general... put this all together and you get the wacky Van Halen video from their remake of the Roy Orbison hit "Oh, Pretty Woman"...

Remember When the Days Were Long

Today's artistic black and white video features a little bit of political-ness combined with some nostalgia of days gone by and innocence lost... for the third time in The Excellent 80's, here is Don Henley who collaborated with Bruce Hornsby on this 1989 hit... it was nearing the end of the 80's and Henley was singing to us about "The End of the Innocence"...

Maybe You're Just Like My Mother

I've actually posted this video already in The Excellent 80's, but since we're rolling through the best of Prince in the 80's with our "Prince March" I can't leave this out... the first time I saw this video I remember thinking that I do not like the naked Prince; clothed, dancing Prince is borderline, but please no more naked crawling Prince! Well, anyway, some women (a lot actually) found him to be really sexy... to each his own... personally, I always loved the scrub-wearing keyboardist! Here is "When Doves Cry"...

80's Movie Weekend

Following up on the heels of the hit movie and soundtrack "Purple Rain," Prince dropped this turd on movie goers everywhere in 1986... thankfully, I can say I never paid to see this movie, nor have I ever watched the whole thing, so maybe I'm unqualified to call it a turd of a movie, but I don't think so... I feel bad for those people that did drop some hard earned cash on this one... here is the movie with Prince as a gigolo called "Under the Cherry Moon"...

Prince has a disease... and it's call stupid!

I'll Never Beat U, I'll Never Lie

I still can vividly remember the girls in 8th grade dressed up like Madonna but constantly flashing the I Would Die 4 U hand signals... one of my favorite Prince songs is this one from the Purple Rain album, here is a live version (with Sheila E. banging on the skins) of "I Would Die 4 U / Baby I'm A Star"...
