Snowing and Blowing Up Bushels of Fun

Of course I have to post the horribly bad "Jingle Bell Rock" video from the 1980's as performed by Hall and Oates.  It's just Christmas tradition here in The Excellent 80's!  There's a couple of bonus lyrical performances at the bottom for your enjoyment as well.  Here is the Christmas classic first performed in 1957 by Bobby Helms, "Jingle Bell Rock"...

Lyrics | Christmas Songs lyrics - Jingle Bell Rock lyrics

If you enjoyed the real Hall and Oates version, then you might get a kick out of these two versions with different lyrics...

It's a Swell Time

It's definitely that time of year to start playing some of my favorite 80's Christmas videos. There aren't too many better than Hall and Oates and their performance of "Jingle Bell Rock." They are wearing some outstanding clothes in this video. Enjoy!

Of course Beavis and Butthead are so the 90's, but I couldn't resist adding their commentary on the Hall and Oates classic or is it the Hall and Rivera classic?

The Return of Beavis and Butthead

I realize the idiot teens from MTV was a 90's thing, but they reviewed many an 80's video. So in honor of their valiant return to MTV this past week, here is a look back at a few of their 80's music video related reviews... huh, huh huh...

Beavis and Butthead take on Ratt's "I Want a Woman"...

B&B on Grim Reaper's "Fear No Evil" from 1985...

Finally the boys take on Hall & Oates "Maneater"...

Shake It Up is All That We Know

Well, this blog may be out of touch and with the end of April upon us, we are now out of time for our "Hall and Oates April"... Oates looks so naked in parts of this video with no guitar in hand, however I love the gigantic drum set and sticks... to finish up our "Hall and Oates April," here is the duo's last #1 single - "Out of Touch"...

Breaking the top 10, here is another one of the hits from Hall and Oates' H2O album... this song was also used in NBA commercials back in the 80's because of its' underlying reference to basketball... check it out and D-Up with some "One on One"...

You Never Close Your Eyes Anymore When I Kiss Your Lips

Today's Hall and Oates classic was their first single to ever break the top 20... a remake (and not as good as the original version) of the classic #1 hit recorded by The Righteous Brothers back in 1964, here are Hall and Oates doing their best to deliver "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'"...

The kids in this video look mean and look like they are about ready to kick your ass... I mean, check out the one with the baseball bat! When this modern family all of sudden gets transformed into a family from the 50's, it scares me... really, those are some scary people after their transformation... ok, ok, I'm rambling now, but just leave me alone! Born three years apart (Hall in 1946 and Oates in 1949), this duo first met in Philadelphia back in 1967 and they've made sweet music for many years now... the lighting in this video make it look their hair is glowing, but, hey Hall and Oates did glow for a solid decade of hits... another #1 hit, here is "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)"...

The use of lighting... the sultry saxophone... the black panther and oh, that mustache! The greatest mustache of the 80's (maybe in a first place tie with Magnum P.I.'s Tom Selleck)... The Excellent 80's is proud to present a "Hall and Oates April" (and that's no April Fool's joke either!)... we'll feature the best of the duo's hits of the 80's... and, what better way to kick it off than with this blockbuster hit from 1982 - one of their five #1 hits, here is "Maneater"...
