I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas yesterday and you are enjoying your day off today! From 1982 comes an early solo hit for the former front man of the band known as The Babys. He also went on to front the supergroup known as Bad English. In between those two gigs he was a solo artist best known for the hit "Missing You." Today's tricky video features John saving a coked out porn star from jumping off a ledge... or did he? or is she? It's all very confusing at the end.

#8
In September of 1984, today's song/video peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, but every where around the country English teachers cringed... and so did any adults trying to teach proper English to their children. That's because John Waite was all over the airwaves and all over MTV with his hit that features the word "ain't" approximately 17 times throughout the song.
With the video, we get an idea of how outdated it is whenever we see John in a telephone booth. Kids these days have no idea what a telephone booth or payphone even is, as both have become relics from the 80's and early 90's. John is looking pretty cool in this video, but the dangling earring always bothered me, but maybe that's what gives him the super power to crush a telephone receiver in one scene!

Another classic 80's film flashback for you this weekend as we go back to when Rob Lowe was the man and Demi Moore was just entering the world of leading lady hotness... some classic Jim Belushi advice (Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan), and some very hot scenes between Lowe and Moore make for this 80's hit from 1986, "About Last Night"...
the trailer...
the rain scene...
and the John Waite song from the soundtrack... with some crazy red hair, here he is with "If Anybody Had a Heart"...

Like A Telegraph To Your Soul
I remember this video spending an ungodly amount of time at the top of MTV's Video Countdown back in the day. And it's the song that came on the radio that your parents couldn't stand because it just kept reinforcing improper grammar over and over and over... here's John Waite with I ain't "Missing You"...
